Forest Buffalo. Not a rare animal, but few people would have heard of it just because of where it lives. Gabon is a small, oil-rich country in west Africa. You'd have a hard time pointing to it on a map. Still, Gabon has some amazing wildlife and overall their land is very well conserved. Inspirational to be honest.
