This rather ugly pig-like creature is a Babirusa. They only exist on and around the Island of Sulawesi and are quite rare now. The hard part about getting this shot wasn't so much finding the animal. For that, it was simply a matter of waiting in a nicely built blind near a mineral lick area. What made this so damn hard was the 2 full days of applying for the permit to be able to go to the very hard to reach Nantu Forest. That and the remote location, long drive, hiking and river crossing to get to the spot. Worth it to see such a rare and cool (if ugly) animal!
