This picture comes with a heartbreaking story. while tracking the countryside of Nepal looking for other animals, a villager reported finding a baby "something" in the woods. What he found was this amazing little guy! While we didn't identify it immediately, this is a baby Bhutan Giant Flying Squirrel. Indeed a rare species. We cared for it day and night feeding it and keeping it clean and warm. Unfortunately there was no way to bring it home and nowhere in Nepal that could take care of it. We left it with a local guide to care for. Sadly, we got word back that it died a few nights after we left. Such an adorable little critter to hold for even a few minutes.
