A wild Gila Monster is one of the rarest animals in the deserts. They are only out for a few weeks per year and are very rare to begin with. "Poaching" for illegal pet trade has brought this poisonous lizard to the brink. They are now a protected species and I'm happy to have seen one before they're gone.
