Sambar Deer live across India and SE Asia. In India (below pic), they are a tiger favorite prey species. The above pic is from Borneo where there are no tigers or leopards so they face less threats there.

Like all the shots from this trip, this was an old film picture that I had re-scanned for this website. The image quality is now heart-breakingly bad but the animals are no less amazing and beautiful. But to see such an animal going about its life in a jungle paradise in the middle of a billion person country makes it worth posting.
