Leaf Cutter Ants carrying home their "kill". These colonies are so huge and work so hard they actually carve large, obvious trails through the rainforest.
Like super highways, thousands and thousands of these guys carry leafs home. What I didn't get a shot of but desperately wish I had was an attack of army ants elsewhere in the forest.
They pour out of the woods like black water flowing over the ground. Other bugs like beatles and grasshopers try to flee but are quickly overwhelmed and devoured.
While nowhere near as exotic or romantic as Jaguars and Tapirs, ants are actually the most interesting critters to watch in the tropical rainforest.
