Serena Ranger Station in Corcorvado National Park has a large mowed field next to it which serves as a rough runway for small airplanes.
While my brother and I were there, a family of these rare Baird's Tapir often hung out on the edge of this field.
One of the afternoons I laid down on the grass to photograph this guy. It got curious or something and came right at me.
Having already been bit by a Tapir in Brazil, I chose the better part of valor and backed out quickly.
Granted, from the perspective of the other tourists around, it probably looked like a scared little girl running away...
